ConvertersNo. 07 / 24approved
One value, every unit — millimetres, metres, miles and more at once. Because a mile means different things on land and at sea.
1 inch ≈ 2.5 cm is how doors and countries end up slightly wrong.

Thirty-five thousand feet. Above the clouds, below the WiFi.

pro tips
A mile is 1,609.344 metres — or 8 furlongs, if you're feeling medieval.
A foot is 12 inches and a yard is 3 feet — smaller, angrier units, but they work.
Rough math: 1 inch ≈ 2.5 cm and 1 mile ≈ 1.6 km. Good enough for doors and roads.
what it does
Type a number, pick its unit, and every other unit updates at the same time. Millimetres, centimetres, metres, kilometres, inches, feet, yards, miles and nautical miles — the whole measuring tape in one screen.
The conversion runs through metres, the unit that all the others secretly agree on. Click any result to copy that particular value, because someone will always ask for the number in feet.
Handy for travel, construction, running routes and the eternal "how far is that in feet?" — the question that ends friendships.
Use it when plans speak one language and your tape measure speaks another: a renovation where the window is "four feet" and the supplier works in millimetres, a route where the GPS says kilometres and the signposts say miles, or a recipe that smuggles in a "few yards" of fence. It also speaks nautical miles, because the sea has its own maths and expects you to keep up.
quick answers
How do you convert between units?
Everything runs through metres — every unit converts to metres first, then out to all the others. It's the unit everyone quietly agrees on.
Is a mile the same everywhere?
Land miles and nautical miles are different: a nautical mile is 1.852 km, while a land mile is 1.609 km. The sea is just longer, and it knows it.
Are the conversions exact?
The factors are the official ones; we round the display so it stays readable. For planning a room or a route, it's more than precise enough.
